Wednesday Wisdom: Wisdom For The Ages.
This is my Great Grandmother Hunt… she passed away in 2012 at the age of 103.
She was the matriarch of our family. The bringer-together-of-people. She had charisma and charm… and also did not hesitate to discipline at the drop of a hat. 😉
I remember often thinking of all the amazing things she saw in her lifetime… from something like the paper shredder being invented in the year she was born to the popup toaster to the first drive through to being alive and experiencing both World Wars, seeing someone walk on the moon to the Internet and more…
I remember a few days before she passed away, I was visiting her at the care facility where she lived, and we had what I called a “moment of knowledge transfer.”
We sat, holding hands, in total silence and stared into one another’s eyes. It felt like it was 10 minutes, although I think it was probably more like 2 or 3 minutes.
And you know, it’s such an interesting thing that experience… I don’t know how to describe it… it was empowering, and uplifting, and it profoundly touched my soul. On a level that as I sit here writing this, 11 years after she passed away, the memory of that moment is still crisp in my mind.
My relationship with my Great Grandma has held and continues to hold a special place in my heart.
Her birthday was in January and I’m still celebrating that.
