Your Friendly Hise Hikers Tuesday Tip: We Self-Care As Hard As We Hike.
Self-care is something that is important to both Jason and me – and we take it very seriously. 🙂
We love to get out and push ourselves and enjoy every minute of the time we get to be in nature.
And, when we rest and take time for self-care, we focus on it as much as we do our trips.
Last weekend, we got a couples massage and today, I got a pedicure to ensure my feet are in good shape for our upcoming trip.
A little back story for you on my personal self-care journey: early in my hiking life, I struggled to find the right hiking boots to fit my feet. As a result, my feet were constantly uncomfortable and I lost toenails every season. Ugh!
A lot of research, trial and error and trying things in the field led me to finding proper shoes that make my feet happy at the end of a long day of hiking, I have socks that support me and prevent me from getting blisters, and during the hiking season, I make pedicures a priority, too. I also have a whole routine of foot care that I do both on and off-season. 🙂
