Your Friendly Hise Hikers Tuesday Tip…
Planning is an integral part of any trip and when doing a section hike, there’s a LOT of planning that needs to happen.
For our upcoming backpacking trip in a couple of weeks, we are doing a stretch from around the Devil’s Post Pile area to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite.
In addition to figuring out where reliable water is, campsites on the trail, and checking fires that may be impacting the areas, etc., we have the added task of figuring out the logistics of getting to our starting trailhead… which has so far resulted in dozens of unanswered calls to different ranger stations (bummer), calls to nearby hotels to get information about shuttle buses that run to the trailhead where we’ll be starting this trek.
I’ll say coming into this with curiosity, a list of questions prepared when calling, and having the patience to ask follow-up questions, take detailed notes, and ask for more information where needed has been key.
