This is called a Palmer’s chipmunk. 🐿 Check out my video here:
According to the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Palmer’s chipmunks are found in cliff and forested areas at about 7,000 feet to 10,000 feet in elevation.
We were greeted by a handful of these cuties atop Cathedral Rock on Mt. Charleston. Well worth the trek… not just for the spectacular views.
Oh, and mind your pack if you set it down in the presence of these chipmunks – they are opportunistic and know that with people there is food.😉
