Here’s an easy way to tap into nature with an essential oil… today, I want to share about Frankincense.

A few years ago, Jason and I did a 40-mile backpacking trip in the desert. We went into the trip not thinking the desert would be that spectacular – and boy were we wrong! There were beautiful flowers at every turn – yes, it was a super bloom… and it was fortunate timing for us to be there at that time. We quickly reassessed our former opinion about hiking in the desert as this particular trip is now in our list of favorites! ❤

However, it got me thinking about the majestic beauty that is the desert. And that’s where frankincense comes in… it is known by its scientific name as Boswellia. It has a unique history throughout the Middle East.

Frankincense is mentioned in the Bible.

Why is it so special? It comes from the droplets of sap that are scraped off and dried from the Boswellia tree.

As part of burial rituals in many ancient civilizations, frankincense was used to embalm the dead as part of a holy laying-to-rest.

It has a fresh, woody, spicy, balsamic fragrance with a bit of a citrus top note.
Here are a few ways frankincense can be used:
* it can promote relaxation and peace of mind. One way I like to use it is during meditation.
* Rub a few drops into your palms and inhale or apply to your temples to feel rejuvenated.
* diffuse a few drops to elevate mood and focus

If you have used frankincense, what’s your favorite way to use it?

If you have never used frankincense, what questions do you have?
