Wednesday Wisdom: Are You Prepared to Zig when the other Zags or to go left when they go right?
I’ve been sharing snippets with you over the last month or so that we have been putting in for various permits for the upcoming hiking season. And today, when I got a rejection notice of one of our permit requests, I was like well, when they zig, we zag… or when they go right, we’re prepared to go left… right?🤪
At first, I was a little annoyed (I mean who likes rejection letters right?) and then I remembered two things: 1) no just means not right now… and 2) this permitting process allows me to see the availability of what dates have permits before I request the next one. WINNING! 💃
I chatted with Jason and we chose a different date… before I filled out the form again, I pulled up this Helen Keller quote (a favorite of ours and of a friend who passed away in 2010), and sat with it for a moment… in kind of that honorary have a moment with our friend’s memory, say a prayer and honor the process.
This is the entire quote: “Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.” – Helen Keller
Then, and submitted for a new permit on a different date. Looking forward to that acceptance email! 😉
