Your Friendly Hise Hikers Tuesday Tip: How I Show Up And Interact Creates My Experience.
I have been taking a wilderness first aid course and learning about ways to treat common first aid ailments that happen in the backcountry.
This training has me thinking…
Not just about the safety precautions and all of the things that we take into account when we’re out…I’m also thinking about how I show up and how I interact and how that affects my overall experience.
What do I mean?
For example, if I show up with kind, loving, humble, and compassionate energy… I am opening myself to kind, loving, humble, and compassionate experiences.
And, alternatively, if I show up with entitled, full of ego, self-centered, etc. energy, I’m likely to experience something where Mother Nature hands me my a$$.
And what do I mean by that?
I’ve found that when I show up in nature and try to assert my will or way on nature, I have received some of the most powerful lessons… and of course, I will share the caveat here that I have to be mindful of those lessons being doled out… or I’m likely to re-experience those lessons again.
And similarly, when we set out on trips, I am always mindful of setting intentions of how I want to show up and what I hope to receive from the experience… and more often than not, I receive amazing, magical goodness that I’ve only found nature to provide.
