Your Friendly Hise Hikers Tuesday Tip… Allow yourself to find yourself in nature.

Every trip we go on shapes us, changes us, and allows growth and healing in some way. And we have to be open to it and allow it. ❤

I can share for myself at least, that some of the most difficult trips have led to some of the most powerful breakthroughs. I’ll share two examples with you…

Story One: Our first backpacking trip in 2015, I’ll summarize it by saying I didn’t know what I didn’t know. And, I went into it willing to learn and be challenged and grow. It was a 40-mile trek and afterward, I found profound healing in the difficult relationship I had with and the passing of my mom. I still don’t have the words to articulate what a powerful experience that was and has been in my life.

Story Two: Our most recent backpacking trip in August 2021, I’ll summarize it by saying I studied and prepared as much as I could and still didn’t know what I didn’t know. The terrain was an ass-kicker… for every 2000 feet we climbed up, we descended 1500. Oof. It was a 75-mile trek and afterward, I have found a profound sense of creativity coming out in all areas of my life. It’s exciting.

I feel this quote from Sue Fitzmaurice is spot on… “You must go on adventures to find where you belong.”
