Your Friendly Hise Hikers Tuesday Tip… Go For It!

A few years ago, we decided to see what snow camping was all about.

Our thought process was that since we hike in the Sierras and the weather can change without warning, it would be good education to afford us the knowledge of what to do if we got caught in the snow.

Fortunately, we have not ever gotten caught in an off-season snowstorm.

Two summers ago, we did start a 40-mile trek with a hell of a hail storm. Temps dropped about 30-35 degrees in less than an hour.

We were prepared, thanks to our snow training. We had the right gear and when we got to the spot where we camped that night, we were warm and comfortable.

So my point in saying “go for it” is: learn the tips, learn the hacks, get the training… do what is necessary to grow and expand in something that brings you joy! ❤
