Today’s nature word is “Forest” and it is defined on yourdictionary.com as an “area with lush trees and vegetation.”

An exciting factoid about hiking areas of the Pacific Crest Trail (and other trails nationwide, I’m sure) is that the trail goes into both National Forest lands and National Parks… and an interesting tidbit I learned along the way is that the focus of a National Park is around the preservation of the land, while a National Forest is managed for a variety reasons including timber, recreation, wildlife, etc.
