Your Friendly Hise Hikers Tuesday Tip: Endurance And Glory.

I’ve been reflecting and forecasting a lot about our hiking adventures.

Finishing out a section of the trail is a fun accomplishment.🥾

Securing permits for the season ahead is super exciting.

The idea of endurance really started coming to the forefront of my brain in a lot of ways as the next stretch of the PCT we will complete is from Red’s Meadow to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite.

Last summer we hiked our longest trek to date – 75 miles.

On that journey, endurance was the name of the game.

* There were blisters.

* There was hiking while not feeling 100% (nausea, etc.).

* There was forcing ourselves to eat when not hungry (even though we knew we had to eat).

* There was hiking around giant piles of bear scat and wondering just how big the bear was that left THAT behind.

And then there’s all the wonderment, excitement, memories, beauty, curiosity, encounters with other creatures, amazing humans, and things that are deeply engrained in my memory and on my heart that are the REASON we do these trips and strive for these adventures.
