Your Hise Hikers Friendly Tuesday Tip… Embracing My Ingredients.
Yeah, according to the poem, “What Folks Are Made Of,” I’m probably a girl made of sugar and spice and everything nice… however, the “real” and “whole entire” me is made of SO much more.
I’m snarky and sarcastic and cuss a lot. I’m also a goof. I love to tell jokes and I genuinely care deeply about others.
I can be intense and have been told I’m intimidating. 😮
I’ve been known to be the one in a group to look for ways to bring levity into awkward or uncomfortable situations.
I got the trail name Rexie in 2016 and have been doing my best to impart and live up to that ever since.
I absolutely love to chat with other hikers and hear their stories… where they are from, why they are hiking, etc.
I have been known to hike for food, beer, or wine.
I’ve been known to dance when food is preparing (both on the trail and at home) and I have an actual dance when I’m having mac and cheese on the trail.
I love to see different varieties of fungi.
I can’t tell you how fascinated I am by texture – in particular of tree bark.
I have a deep connection, passion, and love for wildlife and nature as a whole.
There’s a good chance you’ll find me stargazing any time I get out of the tent to go to the restroom.
I celebrate publicly and always like to ask others what their favorite part of a trip was.
Jason and I are always on the lookout to help a fellow hiker… whether it be to share info about upcoming water sources, good campsites, handoff an extra map, point someone in the right direction, give them a ride somewhere… we are HUGE proponents of trail magic and believe that what we put out into the world definitely comes back (and we’ve experienced it!).
There’s a lot more to this ingredients list, these are just a few that I thought you might find interesting/ amusing. 🙂
