Your Friendly Hise Hikers Tuesday Tip: Dream Big!
Do you have dreams? Have you pushed them to the back burner for one reason or another?
May I encourage you to dust them off and reinvigorate your passion for those dreams?
In 2016, when we committed to do our first backpacking trip, I had literally no idea what I was getting myself into. I mean I did, and I also REALLY did not.
After getting over being terrified that a bear was definitely coming for me (there’s a long story there), gaining the trail name Rexie, and solidifying my love and passion for the outdoors and nature, I absolutely fell in love with backpacking.
And I’m incredibly and deeply grateful that my husband and I enjoy these adventures together.
After our first trip, we dreamed of doing the entire PCT from Mexico to Canada and decided to set a loose goal of completing the PCT along the Sierra Nevada mountains.
In the years since that first trek, we’ve completed over 400 miles. We just secured a permit for our next 35-mile stretch from Red’s Meadow near Mammoth to Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite.
Then what remains is less than 200 miles to our “southern terminus” of Mt. Whitney.
We’re already dreaming about what our next goal will be. 😉
As I reflect on the adventures, stories, amazing humans, connections we’ve made, and relationships that have been built and strengthened, I am humbled and in awe.
