Throwback-ThursdayIn 1994, I graduated high school in June and started college in the fall – and I thought it would be fun to start doing a “Throwback Thursday” post to reflect on what was happening on this date in 1994 (random selection for this post).

Here are 3 random things that happened in October 1994:

  • On October 12, 1994: NASA loses radio contact with the Magellan spacecraft as the probe descends into the thick atmosphere of Venus (the spacecraft presumably burned up in the atmosphere either October 13 or October 14).
  • On October 29, 1994: Francisco Martin Duran fires over 2 dozen shots at the White House; he is later convicted of trying to kill President Bill Clinton.
  • The Duke of Edinburgh attends a ceremony in Israel, where his late mother, Princess Alice of Battenberg (Princess Andrew of Greece), is honoured as “Righteous among the Nations” for sheltering Jewish families from the Nazis in Athens, during World War II.

What was going on in your world in October 1994?
