29_Gifts_book-coverI recently finished the book 29 Gifts by Cami Walker and found it to be such an enlightening, delightful read.  In her early 30s, Cami got a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and it changed her life completely and forever. She received some advice from an African medicine woman named Mbali, “Give away 29 gifts for 29 days.” And Cami took the challenge.

The book shares Cami’s experience and how she gave a gift a day for 29 days.

Truly a beautiful story of one woman’s personal struggles with a serious health challenge and watching her fold back the layers on her own life, deal with the tough stuff, ask for help when she needed it, and really her compassionate heart came through on every page.

This book focuses on the transformation that we are capable of in our own bodies. In particular, Cami shares that she learned how to move out of focusing on the negative thoughts and move into giving and the improvements she noted in her own life.

For me, this story really touched me on so many levels. One of my best friends from high school lost her battle to M.S. in February 2013 and reading about Cami’s experiences with M.S. brought tears to my eyes. Cami’s story also made me in awe of what the human body is truly capable of, and how what we focus on is what we attract. Such an inspirational message.

Cami started an online community to spread the message of 29 Gifts and it has over 5,000 members approximately 38 countries.
